Trivia: Jason Reitman began writing the screenplay in 2002 when the economy was booming and planned to make it as his first feature. However he had to release Thank You for Smoking (2005) and Juno (2007) so he cancelled it until 2009 but America plummeted into an economic recession. He said the film changed completely because the global crisis and is now presenting a different point of view.
Plot: Ryan Bingham (George Clooney) is a corporate expert in downsizing (not your most popular job, but needed during the crisis) who spends a lot of his time flying. His travelling “career” is at its peak, given that he’s going to achieve ten million frequent flyer miles. However that and meeting the frequent-traveler woman of his dreams threatens his “Up in the Air” career, and he has to find solutions to his own personal crisis.
