Trivia: Interior scenes were filmed at Belvoir Castle in Leicestershire. The bed used in the honeymoon scene was slept in by the real Queen Victoria when she visited the castle in 1843. The bedroom is so small that all the cameras had to be placed outside the windows.
Goofs: In her opening speech to the Privy Council she says ‘I’ and ‘me’. Back in the day this would never happen as monarchs always referred to themselves with the royal plural ‘we’.
Plot: The story of Queen Victoria’s early rise to power. At 11 she knew that is very close to becoming a queen. The Young Victoria presents the early years of Queen Victoria, when she had a relation with Prince Albert. Emily Blunt (you’ve seen her in the Devil Wears Prada) gives a remarkable performance as The Young Victoria, an object of the royal struggle for power but also the future wife of Prince Albert. “The Young Victoria” was a success in Britain (aired there in March 2009) due to its political intrigue, amazing cinematography, drama and romance.
