  • Run Time: 144 min

Trivia: Digital cinematography allowed for extensive retouching in order to remove modern details from the images, as well as sharpen objects and facial expressions.

Plot: Don’t worry, I’m not testing your German knowledge, though the trailer is in German. Translated the movie is actually called “The white ribbon” and is one of the best you’ve ever seen from the German cinematography (also it doesn’t put Germans in a good light). It all happens 15 months before the first World War, and the movie is filmed in such a manner that makes you feel the action is happening in past (the movie is black and white, the filming is intentionally “poor”). The story happens in a small village, where a series of strange things start happening, with negative consequences for the villagers. All seems like a plot of an unknown alliance to create chaos in the small village, starting with children found tied and beaten and ending with strange deaths.
