Plot:
DAM999 is a movie that has at its core a true event, the disaster from 1975 in China where the Banqiao Dam broke and killed 250,000 people.

After several years serving their country, two marines return home in hope of a restful life, however what they don’t know is that a disaster will change their destiny.

Initially I thought that DAM999 was actually a combination between the word DAM and a reversed 666, but it seems that the story revolves around 9 characters (the first nine), that go through nine variants of emotions (called Navarasa, the second nine). Since each character has inside their own emotional dam, the last 9 comes from the fact that in the end their emotion dam explodes.

The trailer is a bit confusing, because there are so many stories involved, however I do believe we’ll see some nice maritime life imagery, given that part of this is filmed on a ship and the trailer for DAM999 also reveals the catastrophic event when the Banqiao Dam broke. Since a quarter of a million lives will be claimed, what will our 9 characters do, will they survive? DAM999 will be released in 3-D and is a co-production between UAE and India (many of the actors are Indian, and the concept at the core of the movie – Navarasas – is an ancient Indian concept of nine human emotions).
