Plot:
Blasphemy, blasphemy I tell you. It’s easy to figure out what this movie is about, but what’s difficult to understand is why didn’t they cast Scarlett Johansson in the role of Marilyn Monroe? She’s a refined version of Marilyn, slightly better I might add. Anyway, back to the movie, My Week with Marilyn is a British movie directed by Simon Curtis and Michelle Williams is the actress that plays Marilyn.
The movie is based on two books by Colin Clark and describes the making of the movie The Prince and the Showgirl (1957), which starred Marilyn Monroe and Laurence Olivier. While it describes that movie, the actual focus of the film is the one week spent by Marilyn with Clark (Redmayne), as her escort around Britain, after her husband Arthur Miller left the country. The trailer does reveal a romance between the two, but also some of the inner fights Marilyn had with herself. And I also spotted the beautiful Emma Watson among the characters, so not all is lost after all. It would’ve been disappointing for a British movie not to include at least her, though the one taking a bath in the movie is Michelle Williams.
